Be aware that hunters will be in the area from 23 March - 19 April 2025 for the Roar deer hunting season.

This means that you may see hunters with firearms on the tracks and at huts. You may hear gunshots in the distance. If you plan to hike at this time, it is recommended to wear hi-vis to ensure you are as visible as possible.

Historic Haast to Paringa Cattle Track washout - caution required

Thompson Creek (N1301968, E5142768) has steep access into a fast-flowing river. The location of this creek is between Blowfly and Māori Saddle Huts, approximately 2 hours from Blowfly Hut.

Heavy rain events may change the level of access into the river, so always make your own assessment before attempting the river crossing.

Extreme caution is required. If you are unsure – turn back or do not attempt the track.
