Handy Hints

Mould and Mildew

To remove mildew growth use the following solution to scrub the surface:

• ¼ cup (60ml) non-ammonia household detergent
• 1 litre bleach solution (5%)
• 4 litres hot water

Handle this mixture with care (as for all products containing bleach). Under no circumstances mix with products containing ammonia as toxic gases can then be released.

Timber surfaces should be rinsed after scrubbing with water before refinishing. The solution can also be used to remove mildew from unfinished timber.

Window cleaner

• 1 cup of white vinegar and 4 litres of water

or

• 1 cup each of vinegar and household ammonia to 4 litres of water

Wash with a sponge. Wash in shade or wait for a cloudy day.
